This 1971 Magnavox Stereo Console comes from Elvis Presley's bedroom at Graceland, and was purchased by Elvis from Scott Appliance in Memphis. One can only imagine how much listening pleasure Elvis enjoyed from this stereo, creating a soundtrack to the refuge within a refuge that was his Graceland bedroom.

The accompanying 1981 letter from Scott Appliance VP Vernon Wilson confirms the purchase and supports the reference on the included original sales record, which lists “Elvis Presley-Grace Farm Mansion” as the delivery location. During the 1975 Graceland redecorating, the console was gifted to Sanford Thompson by Elvis and Sanford's daughter, Linda Thompson. The accompanying 1987 letter from Mr. Thompson, on TCB letterhead no less, reads in part:

This letter is meant to serve as official certification of a Magnavox stereo, no in my possession, as having once belonged to the late Elvis Aaron Presley personally....It bears model #P3763 and serial #4654513 on a factory installed card attached to the back of the cabinet. It was purchased from Scott Appliance Co., Whitehaven...by Elvis himself on April 8, 1971...I further certify that this same stereo was placed in Elvis' private upstairs bedroom at Graceland and played by Elvis himself over a period of approximately four (4) years...In the Spring of 1975, Elvis and my daughter Linda were having Graceland redecorated. It was at this time that ElviS personally gave me the stereo. It is now in my possession and has been continuously since he gave it to me.

The “Astro Sonic” model stereo cabinet boasted AM and FM radio and a state-of-the-art phonograph, with sound delivered through two oversized speakers. Also included are 30 records that were in the console when Sanford sold it, some of which had to be his, but some of which may have been Elvis’. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated. The stereo cabinet measures approximately 27 by 53 by 20 inches and presents in need of only minor repairs to be funcional. Please note: shipping could be costly-pickup in Memphis or Chicago can be arranged.
