Offered is an original production mock-up for a preliminary album cover concept for Elvis Presley's 1973 LP, eventually entitled Elvis. With the first song on Side 1 of the album slated to be "FOOL," it must have been suggested that that become the title of the LP. It seems once the powers that be at RCA (and likley the Colonel himself!) saw the resulting orientation of "ELVIS" and "FOOL" they decided not to emphasize the song that much. The offered artwok shows the track name prominently on the front and back under Elvis’ name. While setting aside this idea, RCA kept the rest of the design elements for the final version of the album. The tracks on this million-selling 1973 release were recorded from March 1971 through the March 1972 in the RCA Studios in Los Angeles, and the sessions also produced “Burning Love,” “Always on My Mind” and “Where Do I Go From Here?” They were some of the most productive recording sessions of the period for Elvis. In order to differentiate this 1973 release from the iconic second LP release from 1956 also entitled Elvis, this 1973 album is often causally referred to as “The Fool album” based on the first track’s title--though not officially!  This unusual hand-crafted mock-up cover, measuring 12 1/2 by 12 1/2 inches, comes with a copy final album cover and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated. The concept art displays areas of glue residue from aging and while the "E" and "I" have partially come unglued on the reverse, the overall visual effect of this hand created mock up remains impressive. Excellent condition.
