Offered is a touching Thank You card sent by Elvis Presley after his October 1973 two-week stay in Memphis' Baptist Memorial Hospital for what a period newspaper article described as "recurrent pneumonia". The card reads "For remembering me during my illness" above his stamped signature. These cards were sent to fans and well-wishers who sent items to Graceland during Elvis' stay in the hospital. It is accompanied by its original mailing envelope with a postmark of "OCT 30 73", as well as two period newspaper clippings. One clipping reports on Elvis' hospitalization, and the other reports on the finalization of his divorce from his wife, Priscilla a week earlier. The culmination of the divorce proceedings on October 9 likely contributed to the downward spiral that landed Elvis in the hospital. Some light staining from the clippings being stored within the card. Excellent condition.
