Offered is a 1974 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo "Committeeman" Badge. The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo’s main goal was to raise scholarship funds for needy boys and girls. Louis Pearce helped move the Rodeo to the Astrodome and booked Elvis for a three-night engagement in 1970 and then again in 1974. Of all the celebrities that performed at the rodeo concert series, Elvis made the biggest impression. Louis Pearce of course had to go through tough negotiations with the Colonel to get Elvis booked, and although Pearce explained to the Colonel that this was an event for which they volunteered and did not make a profit on, the Colonel responded, “Well, so we can get this thing off on the right foot: I won’t give anybody a stick of gum. Now y’all start talking.” The badge measures 2 x 2 1/4 inches and shows moderate use.
