This framed RCA in-house gold record award for Elvis Presley's 1977 single “Way Down”. This example was  “Presented to Terry James to commemorate the sale of more than one million units of the RCA RECORDS single record ‘Way Down.’” James was likely a radio DJ from the 1970s. “Way Down” was recorded in October of 1976 and was released by RCA in June of 1977 with “Pledging My Love” on the B-side. The single, the last one released before Elvis’ untimely death, hit number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart but had slipped to 53 by August. The song rose in the charts again, topping 18 in September and October. The recording also contains J.D. Sumner singing “Way on down” at the end of each chorus during which he reaches a note so low, it is believed to be the lowest recorded note ever produced by a human voice. The song was certified gold by RIAA on September 12, 1977. This framed display features a 45 single above a gold-colored plaque, both mounted on a dark background. The award measures 15 by 12 inches and presents with only minor scratches to the wooden frame. Excellent condition.
