On August 15, 1995, New York Yankee legend and Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle was laid to rest at a funeral ceremony in Dallas, Texas. The offered display features an actual carnation from the elaborate "7" flower arrangement from the funeral and pallbearer Bobby Murcer's boutonniere rose from the event. Both are arranged under a clear dome and mounted on a wooden base with a small descriptive plaque. The accompanying letter from the nephew of ballplayer Cliff Mapes, who attended the funeral, reads in part "I was invited to attend Mickey Mantle's funeral by the Mantle family on August 15, 1995. After the funeral was over, we were standing outside talking with Johnny Blanchard. It was a hot Texas day, and Johnny took off his suit jacket and he asked me if I wanted his boutonniere that he had been wearing on his jacket and I said yes. Bobby Murcer was standing nearby taking off his jacket and he asked my friend Wayne if he would like his boutonniere and Wayne said yes. This boutonniere was worn by Bobby Murcer as a pallbearer at Mickey Mantle's funeral on August 15, 1995." Also included is the program from the funeral.
