The director of both A Hard Day's Night and HELP!, Richard Lester, has signed the offered autograph book page "Best Wishes Richard Lester." The Beatles, especially John Lennon, were fans of the 1959 short film Lester had made with Peter Sellers, "The Running Jumping & Standing Still Film," and tapped him to direct A Hard Day's Night. After the huge success of the first film, Lester was chosen to direct HELP!, as well. His techniques in filming the live performances in A Hard Day's Night, and the way he shot and structured the film as a whole, were incredibly influential in the way music was presented after the film's release, and presaged the coming of the music video as an art form. Lester was given a Video Vanguard Award at the inaugural MTV Video Music Awards, as the "Father of the Music Video." It was reported he was unimpressed and wrote to MTV for a paternity test. The autograph is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentic. The page measures 6 x 3 1/4 inches and presents with a slight halo of toning around the signature, most likely from being framed at some point. Near Mint condition.
