Offered is Carl Perkins 1986 Grammy Award for "Interviews from The Class of '55-Recording Sessions" from the LP Class of '55: Memphis Rock & Roll Homecoming. The album featured Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, and Johnny Cash and was produced by Chips Moman. The recording sessions also included a host of other luminaries: Jack Clement, Marty Stuart, Sam Philips, June Carter Cash, John Fogerty, Dave Edmunds, The Judds and Rick Nelson. The "Interviews" were on the special 2nd record of the album, filling two whole sides. They were drawn from all the documentary footage shot by Dick Clark's crew during the recording sessions in September 1985, which became CLASS OF '55 - Coming Home: A Rockin' Reunion (1989).

The plaque on the award reads: "National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences / Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Sam Phillips, Rick Nelson & Chips Moman / Best Spoken Word or Non-Musical Recording-1986 / 'Interviews from the Class of '55 - Recording Session."

The award is accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity signed by four members of Carl's family, including his son and daughter, Stan Perkins and Debbie Swift. The letter reads "We the owners of Carl Perkins Enterprises, (Stan Perkins, Debbie Swift, Dawn Perkins and Chase Perkins) do verify and in fact claim that the Grammy Award honoring Carl Perkins for Best Spoken Word Performance derived from the Class of 55 Recordings Sessions is genuine. This artifact was awarded to Carl Perkins by The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in 1986. Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Sam Phillips, Rick Nelson and Chips Moman were also recipients."

Grammys, Oscars and Emmys are incredibly hard to acquire--most of the organizations stopped allowing the sale of the statues and awards decades ago. This is an incredible opportunity to acquire an Grammy Award from one of the most important figures in Rock and Roll History. The regal award stands 7 inches tall on a 5 x 5 inch wooden base. Near Mint condition.
