The offered ticket stub is for “The Battle of New Orleans” World Heavyweight Championship fight at the New Orleans Superdome on September 15, 1978, between Champion Leon Spinks and Muhammad Ali. Ali had lost a tough split decision and the Heavyweight Championship to Spinks just seven months earlier in Las Vegas, and he wasn't about to let it happen again. While not the most eloquent match in his career, Ali constructed a successful gameplan to keep Spinks tied up to limit his punching opportunities while he landed his in quantiity. It worked, giving Ali a unanimous decision and making him the first fighter to win the Heavyweight crown three times! The ticket measures 2 ¾ x 2 1/8 inches and presents with edge wear and a angled tear across the center of the ticket. Excellent condition.
