The award emanates from the Brickhouse estate and was most-likely awarded to the legendary broadcaster in 1983 when he he received the Ford C. Frick Award from the Baseball Hall of Fame. The award reads “Legends of Radio / Chicago's Very Own Jack Brickhouse / WGN Radio 720.” Brickhouse's career spanned more than 35 years, and he worked in every aspect of Chicago sports. His broadcasting jobs included manning the mic for the Chicago Cubs (1948-81), Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears (1953-77) and several historic prize fights. Accompanied by a modern 8 x 10 photo of Jack Brickhouse with Ernie Banks and Nellie Fox in the WGN TV studios surrounding a giant color tv camera of the era. The award is 8 inches in diameter and presents in Near Mint condition.
