The photo is inscribed “To The Duke of Dixie, My Best to You, Elvis Presley.” The image is the classic portrait taken by William Speer at the direction of Elvis' then personal manager Bob Neal. The photo lists "ELVIS PRESLEY" on the lower left border and "160 Union Ave. Memphis, Tenn." on the right--the office address of Bob Neal and the original "Elvis Presley Enterprises." Speer took 11 different images during the photo shoot—although five other images were shirtless poses of Elvis prompted by Speer’s wife in response to the fact that Elvis had brought no change of outfit for the session. She may have had other motivations. Elvis and other performers he appeared with in 1955 were very accessible, and Elvis was a very willing autograph signer. Many of these signed photos have surfaced over the years, but we challenge anyone to find one with a darker, bolder signature! Accompanied by an LOA from Beckett Authentication. The photo measures 8 x 10 inches and presents with many creases and a large fold at the top and a few small tears at the edges. That said, the contrast of the photo is extremely bold, and the signature and inscription are very bold. Very Good to Excellent condition.
