Elvis was the first contributor to purchase a button for $1 in support of the “Good Friday Coffee for Crippled Children” in 1957. The event was sponsored by the Tennessee Restaurant Association, and by buying a $1 button, the wearer was entitled to free coffee at all participating restaurants in the state on Good Friday, April 19, 1957. Elvis is pictured with Monte Robinson, proprietor of “Monte's Drive-In,” a legendary Memphis restaurant. The photo was taken by Les Cooper, whose atribution stamping is on the reverse along with the notation “Elvis Presley Monte Robinson 4/13/57.” The photo measures 8 x 10 inches. The photo presents with expected newsroom markings and grease pencil notations, as well as creasing and cracking along the border areas, but the image area is bold in contrast. Excellent to Mint condition.
