The offered custom made, blue nylon v-neck button down top was owned by Elvis Presley and gifted to his cousin Billy Smith. Elvis was a big fan of this style of shirt from the late 1960s to the early 1970s and had many different versions of this low v-neck top. The offered shirt has the plunging v-neck but is also a button down-many versions were pullovers. Elvis can be seen wearing similar shirts during 1969 and 1970. The shirt's construction indicates it was custom made, with the rough cuts on the interior seams and visible fabric reinforcements in the front button panels. No label is present.

The shirt was given to Elvis' cousin Billy Smith, and later the shirt changed hands and ended up with noted collector and former Shelby County Sheriff's office employee Tom Morgan. Morgan's December 20, 2015, signed letter states in part "The shirt belonged to Elvis A. Presley and was worn by him on numerous occasions. Elvis gave the shirt to Billy Smith (his cousin), who later gave it to a close friend, Eddie Poole. I acquired the shirt from Mr. Eddie Poole, who was the President of one of the first Elvis Fan Clubes in Memphis, TN."

The amply pleated cuffs and cut of the shirt are certainly reminiscent of the IC Costume shirts made for Elvis in the era, but the tag on the offered shirt is missing. The shirt measures 19 inches from shoulder seam to shoulder seam and is 29 inches in length. The custom-made shirt presents with signs of moderate to heavy wear but no damage. Excellent to Mint condition.
