Offered is Elvis Presley's metal jewelry and keepsake box from his Beverly Hills home. The box was one of many items from the September 14, 1980, sale held at The Hollywood Palladium by Don B. Smith Auction Co. featuring the "Personal Property Formerly Owned by Elvis & Priscilla Presley /  Their Former Home at 1174 Hillcrest Road, Beverly Hills, California." This famous auction featured everything that was left in the Hillcrest house after Elvis' passing--furniture, art, sculptures, books, beds, typewriters...you name it!

In a period photograph of the living room of the house, the box can actually be seen on the book shelves (see photo at right, lower left shelf--the keyhole in the box is even visible!). Elvis was fond of jewelry boxes, of course, but he generally loved a little box to put all sorts of items in around the house or in his cars. The offered box is a perfect example. Accompanied by a letter by David Collins testifying that the piece (and one other) were purchased at the auction. The heavy metal box measures 8 1/2 x 6 x 3 1/2 inches and presents with remnants of its once gilded details still in place and with heavy oxidation. Very Good to Excellent condition.
