In 1976, Denver Police Captain Jerry Kennedy and Deputy Chief Bob Cantwell presented Elvis with the offered monogrammed badge wallet. “ELVIS” is embossed on one side, with the Denver Police crest on the other side, and “1976” is embossed on the spine along with the initials “JSS”. The badge, offered as the next lot in this auction, sat neatly inside, and its outline can still be seen on the interior. Elvis spent a lot of time with members of the Denver police department that year, inviting several officers on a Vail ski vacation. After an officer from the department died in the line of duty, Elvis made a sizeable donation for a gym used by the dapartment. There are many photos of Elvis with Captain Kennedy and Deputy Chief Cantwell, as well as other members of the Denver force. The offered wallet (and the badge in the next lot) were originally offered in the historic sale of Jimmy Velvet's collection in 1996. Accompanied by copies of the November 3, 1996, “Elvis Presley Museum” catalog where the wallet was first offered as lot 128. Also accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Jimmy Velvet from his 1999 “LEGENDS Collection” auction. The wallet measures 7 ½ x 4 ¾ inches and present with signs of mild wear. Near Mint condition.
