Offered is Elvis Presley's midnight red horse blanket used at Graceland by both Elvis and Priscilla while horseback riding. The photos at right show a red blanket in use by Elvis on "Ebony's Double" riding to meet fans at Graceland--the red can just be seen below his full size saddle. There are several pictures showing a red blanket in use by Priscilla riding. Elvis loved his horses and rode extensively at Graceland and at his ranch, The Circle G. The blanket was eventually gifted to a girl by Elvis' uncle Harold Lloyd, a security guard at Graceland, while she was visiting with her sister who was dating Charlie Hodge at the time. Her accompanying handwritten letter, dated 8-16-10, reads:
This red horse blanket belonged to Elvis Presley. My sister dated Charlie Hodge for four years, and during that time I became friends with Harold Lloyd, Elvis' cousin. Harold and I were walking around the grounds of Graceland and went in the barn to see the horses. I was given this red blanket and have kept it for many years. There are pictures of Elvis riding horses with this blanket. A nice piece of Elvis history. Sincerely, Rhonda Ryland
The horse blanket measures 29 1/2 x 31 inches and presents with signs of heavy use and is covered with horse hair (as is my desk) of several colors. Excellent condition.
