The offered, large silver ring with massive green stone was given by Elvis Presley to one of his close fans while at a movie theater in Memphis. The ring is technically "Sterling" because of its silver content, though the oversized stone is undoubtedly what drew Elvis to this piece of jewelry. Elvis had a passion for jewelry, and his love of rings and other pieces replete with diamonds and gold is legendary, but he was also passionate about the spiritual properties of many non-precious stones. He owned a great number of rings with various stones because of their affects, and he loved sharing pieces like this one for the same reasons. The ring is accompanied by a signed (and laminated) letter on “From the Desk of Cricket Coulter” letterhead that reads in part “I am Cricket Coulter, and I was a close friend to Elvis Presley for many years. I also appeared in the 1970 motion picture Elvis: That's the Way It Is. This letter is to certify that Elvis gave me the large silver ring with the green stone that accompanies this paperwork. I had seen Elvis wearing this ring several times, and I'd often commented on it. One evening I accompanied Elvis and a group of his buddies to the Memphian Theatre to watch movies. I sat in the row behind him, and during one movie he turned and tossed me this ring. I remember that at first I thought it was a piece of candy!” Thank goodness Cricket didn't eat it! The silver ring, measuring size 11, exhibits a “AF925” mark on the interior band, with the “925” being a reference to the 92.5% silver content of the ring, identifying it as sterling silver and in this instance weighing 24.1 grams. The massive stone measures 1 x ½ inches. The ring presents with moderate wear. Excellent condition.
