There may not have been a more willing autograph signer in 1954 and 1955 than the young rising star Elvis Presley. The early Sun Records promotional photos to which he penned his name during that time may number in the thousands. Elvis and the other up and comers on those early tours often signed for all comers--it was the best way to meet girls, after all! But by the time Elvis signed the offered "RCA Victor Recording Artist" promotional photo in 1956, access for autographs was a lot tougher. It follows that many, many fewer of these photos with Elvis' autograph appear in the marketplace. The offered example presents with "yours, Elvis Presley" penned neatly in blue ink in the white area to the left of Elvis' image. On the reverse, the notation "Joyce Ladd 1956-Texas" indicates the photo's Lone Star origins. Elvis toured Texas extensively in 1956, playing more than 30 shows in more than a dozen cities and towns from January to October that year. The photo is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentic. The photo measures 8 x 10 inches and presents with a small pin hole at the top and some other minor wear. Excellent to Mint condition.
