“Kiss” is the one-word editorial room description written on the reverse of this wonderful news service photo, and it couldn't be more apt. Elvis emphatically said farewell to Anita Wood at the Memphis train station on August 27, 1957, as he left for a West Coast concert tour and recording sessions in Los Angeles for his upcoming Christmas album. Elvis' mother Gladys Presley is caught at the extreme right of the photo glaring at the news service photographer, likley not pleased at the public display of affection captured on film. The newsroom markings on the reverse also read “Elvis Presley, Anita Wood, 8/28/57,” likely indicating the date of publication for the photo. There is also the number “80847” which is most-likely an internal inventory number for the newspaper. The photo measures 8 x 10 inches. The photo presents with expected newsroom markings, some minor toning and edge wear, especially along the top edge. Excellent to Mint condition.

Elvis Presley and Anita Wood "THE KISS" News Service Photo - at the Memphis Train Station on August 27, 1957, with His Mother Gladys Glaring at the Camera!
