Offered is Elvis Presley's mid-1950's "Rogers" formal silverware set from Graceland. Elvis later gifted the set to Graceland maid and cook, Nancy Rooks, likely when the set was replaced. The "Deluxe Plate" silverplate set contains 26 pieces plus 8 steak knives (with Bakelite handles) in the "Precious" pattern that Rogers started issuing in the early 1940s and continued through the mid-1950's. The timing makes sense for the Presley's to purchase this kind of silverware set--just as Elvis is making a good living for the first time a nice set of flatware would have been one of the first things his mother would have wanted. The set is still housed in its orignal case, which has protected the pieces for more than 70 years.

Nancy worked as a maid and cook for Elvis Presley at Graceland from 1967 to 1977, and stayed on to work for the family until 1982. She treasured her time working for Elvis and the Presley family, and always enjoyed sharing her memories with fans over the years. She made countless meals for Elvis, including his peanut butter and banana sandwiches. As a member of the Graceland family, Nancy was given any number of household items, decorative pieces or keepsakes that Elvis, Vernon, Elvis' grandmother Minnie Mae or Elvis' Aunt Delta wanted her to have. This item emanates directly from Nancy's estate and are accompanied by a letter of authenticity from her family. The case has some distresses on the cover, but the silverware and knives are very well preserved. Near Mint condition.
