Offered is a signed check from Ernie Kovacs, the mercurial comic genius who died in car accident at only 41 years old in 1962. Kovacs has been credited as an influence by many individuals and shows, including Johnny Carson, David Letterman, Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, Saturday Night Live, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Jim Henson, Max Headroom, Chevy Chase, Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Kimmel, Captain Kangaroo, Sesame Street, The Electric Company, Pee-wee's Playhouse, The Muppet Show, Dave Garroway and Andy Kaufman, among others. The check is from Kovacs' company account, "E & E.K. Enterprises, Inc.," and was written to him and his wife, "Edith Kovacs," for $1,000 on December 20, 1960. "Edith" was, of course, Kovacs wife and comedy partner, Edie Adams. A small photo signed by Adams is also included. The check is matted for framing with an original studio-issued 8 x 10 inch photo of Kovacs in the 1960 film Wake Me When It's Over. The Kovacs signed check is accompanied by a COA from Beckett Authentic. The check measures 8 3/8 x 3 inches and presents with expected wear from cancellation and processing. Near Mint condition.
