One of the most recognizable images of the 20th Century is the ecstatic sailor kissing a nurse in New York's Times Square during the celbrations on "Victory in Japan" Day at the end of World War II. The offered 8 x 10 photo is signed by that sailer, George Mendonsa, and he has inscribed it "V.J. Day 8/14/45 NYC TImes Square." His wife (NOT THE NURSE) Rita Mendonsa has also signed the photo and drawn an arrow to herself in the background with the caption "He never kisses me like that." The Mendonsa's have always enjoyed their small amount of fame related to the photo. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA. Near Mint to Mint condition.
