August 27, 2020 Elvis Presley BIG 50 Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 8/27/2020

Offered is the literal Rolls Royce of belt buckles that once belonged to Elvis Presley. This 18-karat gold example contains the Spirit of Ecstasy figure sitting atop the Rolls Royce gold grille. The buckle, weighing a hefty 46.9 grams and measuring 2 by 2 1/8 inches, exhibits several stampings including a maker’s mark, “MW,” “18K” and “1887” on the reverse bottom edge. This grand belt buckle comes with a certificate from Jimmy Velvet that states, “Elvis gave this 18kt gold Rolls-Royce belt buckle to his Aunt Delta who lived at Graceland. Years later after Elvis’ passing, Aunt Delta invited me to Graceland for a visit, during that visit Delta gave me this belt buckle and a few other items that had originally belonged to Elvis”. It also comes with a letter from Jimmy Velvet that states:

This heavy 18kt gold, trademarked Spirit Ecstasy (aka: Flying Lady), Rolls-Royce grill belt Buckle was personally owned by Elvis Presley. Elvis had this in his jewelry box at Graceland and one night he gave this buckle and a ring to Aunt Delta. Delta Mae Biggs was the sister to Elvis’ father, Vernon, and was the only person living at Graceland after Elvis passed away. One evening I received a phone call from Delta’s sister, Nashville (nicknamed: Nash), to say that Delta wanted me to come over for a visit to Graceland at 11:00 pm. Delta disclosed that she was going to pass away soon and wanted me to purchase all of the things which Elvis had given to her over the years so she could divide the money evenly and fairly between her close relatives. In Delta’s words, “I don’t want them to fight over ‘things.’” At the close of our three hour visit she wanted to give me a gift of friendship and placed the belt buckle in my hand.

Accompaying the belt buckle is an original 1960 news service photo of Elvis with his first Rolls Royce in front of Graceland and a three-page "Jewelry Judge" Appraisal document dated February 8, 2013. The buckle is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated. The belt buckle presents with little to no wear. Stunning Near Mint condition.
