The offered “Special Elvis Souvenir Photo Album Menu” includes the rare menu insert which was included in the Souvenir Photo Album and typically has been lost to time. The single-page, double-sided menu insert, with full wine list on the reverse, includes luxuriously delicious dishes like lobster tail, young capon, roast prime rib of beef and New York steak. Fans were made to feel like royalty themselves with this menu package from Elvis’ second season at the Las Vegas International Hotel.

Elvis redefined what it meant to play Las Vegas once he hit the stage at the International Hotel on July 31, 1969. After nearly a decade of focusing on movies, he came back with a vengeance, and between 1969 and 1976 performed more than 600 sold-out shows. During his second season in January 1970, Elvis changed his song repertoire to include Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline,” Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary,” Tony Joe White’s “Polk Salad Annie,” and Joe South’s “Walk a Mile in My Shoes.”

As usual, the Colonel had arranged for a plethora of merchandise, promotional materials and advertising to be created for these engagements. One of the most popular artifacts from these performances in Vegas are the menus that were provided to guests as they sat for dinner, and Elvis dominated the covers. The photo album with menu insert measures 11 by 8 1/2 inches, and the souvenir photo measures 10 by 8 inches. Minor wear and some staining. Excellent condition overall.
