Offered is a lovely "Mr. Blackwell" black cocktail dress worn by esteemed actress Jayne Mansfield. The dress comes from her estate sale. Mansfield had a bried and stormy professional relationship with "Mr. Blackwell" himself, who put her on his "worst dressed" list in the early 1960s. Jayne then approached the designer to do her wardrobe, which markedly improved her "look" at the time. After she appeared nude in a film Blackwell severed ties with Mansfield. The offered dress is from that brief period when he was making clothes for Jayne. Accompanied by provenance from the sale of her estate holdings in the early 1980s.
