The offered life-sized standee featuring Johnny Carson was created by Chrysler for use in their boating showrooms of the late-1960s and to promote their commercials airing on The Tonight Show. By the late 1960s, Chrysler Boats was a major player with a full product line of marine products. They referred to their dealerships as "The Chrysler Crew Dealers," and their professional racing team's boat was named the "Miss Chrysler Crew." Johnny Carson is wearing a sportcoat with "Crew" logo on the breast, and sign he's holding reads "CATCH THE CHRYSLER CREW IN ACTION ON THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JOHNNY CARSON ON NBC."
It was a serious commitment of marketing dollars to advertise on The Tonight Show and companies wanted to make sure their customers saw them! The standee measures 69 x 26 inches and presents with all but the very top of its standee architecture on the reverse. It also exhibits some paper loss in the middle on the logo and a large separation at the waist, but it is still in one piece. Moderate scuffing and scratches. Very Good to Excellent condition.
