In 1977, collector John A. Douglas took the initiative to right a wrong: Baseball great Johnny Mize had been retired as an active player for nearly a quarter of a century, yet remained outside the hallowed halls of Cooperstown, nearly forgotten by those who select new members for the National Baseball Hall of Fame. As part of his effort to see Johnny receive his plaque, Mr. Douglas issued a 20-card set done in a distinctive scrapbook style. Each card is signed, measures 3-1/8" by 3-7/8" and features an insight to Mize's qualifications for enshrinement including statements by contemporaries and Johnny's own statistics. Pre-certified by Beckett Authentic.
