The offered contract is signed by Hall of Fame Manager Clark Griffith. The player, Pete Lapan, had two cups of coffee with the Nationals in 1922, and 1923, but couldn't get any time on the field behind starting catchers Muddy Ruel or Patsy Gharrity. Lapan played a total of 22 seasons, including his minor league work, from 1910 to 1931, retiring when he was 40 years old. The contract is dated February 21, 1923, and signed boldly by Griffith. An excellent example of an early 20th Century Major League Baseball "Uniform Players Contract". LOA from Beckett Authenticated.
