Elvis Presley Stage-Worn Blue Scarf with Facsimile Signature Given to a Fan in Concert at the Las Vegas Hilton December 3, 1976, with Photo of Elvis on Stage

For an Elvis Presley show attendee in the 1970s, there was nothing better than getting to sit close to the stage (or just rushing up there!) and having Elvis pull one of his signature scarves off of his sweat-stained neck and hand it to you. He did it dozens of times each night, for years on end, but the gesture never, ever lost its devastating impact on his fans. These scarves became treasured keepsakes, packed away safely, perhaps only brought out on special occassions to show uninitiated younger family members or children a piece of Elvis. The offered blue scarf with facsimile "Elvis Presley" signature is one such revered artifact. It hails from Elvis' last series of shows at the Las Vegas Hilton in December of 1976. The accompanying notarized letter reads “I went to Las Vegas with a friend from college. We arrived on December 3rd of 1976. Through her uncle we were able to get seats at the front row table for the dinner show that night at the Hilton. During the show Elvis handed me a blue scarf. I have included the receipt from the Saraha Hotel where we stayed as well as a picture I took of Elvis coming down to our table.” The photo mentioned in the letter measures 3 ¼ x 3 ¼ inches and shows Elvis prowling the front of the stage, as he did during the portion of the show when he gave out most of the scarves. He is captured in his “Egyptian” jumpsuit with the original “Chief” belt buckle, likely indicating the photo was taken at the dinner show on December 4, 1976. (We'll forgive our fans memory!) Also included is the original Sahara Hotel receipt for the lucky fan's stay, dated December 3-6. The scarf measures 34 x 34 inches and presents with little wear and no major stains.
