Offered is a handwritten letter from Sun Record Co. to Paramount Record Manufacturing Co. dated "1/9" that reads: "Distressed to learn from Bills of Lading that Presley records shipped to Indiana 1/5. Please stop all shipments Presley as per our instructions. Most important. Sun Rec. Co." "Indiana" is a reference to one of the Sun Records distributors, often referenced in other period documents, and Paramount was the Philadelphia record plant that made the lion's share of Sun records distributed on the east coast. Sam Phillips had just sold Elvis Presley's contract in November 1955 to RCA, with RCA starting to release their own versions of Elvis' 10 songs from Sun in December. Our reading of this letter is that Sam was supposed to have stopped distributing his Sun copies of Elvis' records after the he signed the deal with RCA, but the record plants were cranking them out so fast that a couple of late orders were sent to distributors. The letter is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the "Elvis Presley Museum" signed by legendary Elvis collector and expert Jimmy Velvet. The letter, most-likely written in Marion Keisker's hand, measures 4 x 6 inches and presents in Near Mint condition.
