Offered is a fascinating artifact from the personal life of Elvis Presley: his actual prescription sheet indicating his need of prescription glasses “for dist. only.” The prescription sheet from “Dr. Marvin L. Klein Optometrist” is filled out in the doctor's hand, signed and dated “7/2/70.” This visit to get his eyes checked took place just days before Elvis leaves for the West Coast to begin rehearsals for his concerts at The International Hotel in Las Vegas. Those rehearsals and shows were filmed to become the documentary Elvis: That's the Way it Is. He was said to be self-concious about his need for glasses in this period, and we often see him wearing prescription glasses in the form of sunglasses from this point forward in his career. The sheet measures 5 ½ x 4 inches and has faded slightly with age. There are some areas of light staining and crease marks from an earlier fold. Excellent condition.
