Offered is a 1950's Kansas City Athletics professional game cap. The A's wore this style--blue cap, red "A" with white piping--from their first year in KC, 1954, through 1959. The "Tim McAuliffe" label is still intact next to the size marking on the inner band-"6 5/8". The cardboard insert is still present, though torn, and indicates a "KM Pro Cap" with the line "This is a major league cap." printed just below. Also included is the full page auction ad from the June 12, 1992, issue of Sports Collectors Digest showing the hat as lot #71. The A's played in Kansas City, Missouri from 1955 to 1967, having previously played in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as the Philadelphia Athletics. After moving in 1967, the team became the Oakland Athletics. In 2025 the franchise will move temporarily to Sacramento before permanently moving to Las Vegas. The color on the felt cap and "A" are strong, but the inner band does have heavy cracking. Excellent condition.
