Offered is a late-1960's Jaques Plante game used Victoriaville Pro goalie stick. The stick dates from Plante's two seasons with the St. Louis Blues from 1968-1970, where he was still in top form winning the Vizina Trophy for best goalie after the 1968-69 season. The Blues went to back to back Stanley Cup finals during Plante's time there. Plante played for the Montreal Canadians from 1952-1963, helping them to win six Stanley Cups. The offered stick is stamped "Fiberglass Patented / 1960-591454 / Made in Canada" on the lower shaft and "PLANTE" near the top. "Giesler - Jorgen Sporting Goods Clayton, MO." is stamped near the handle. The blade broke in the center and was repaired by a later owner with large staples and packing tape--most of this tape has been removed. It is unclear whether the break came in game use--it's possible it did, and that's whey it was deaccessioned to a fan! The original game taping at the knob is still present, and the areas on the blade and stick where Plante's tape had been appied can be easily identified. They match period examples of his game taping style. This is an incredibly important stick from one of the greatest goalies NHL history.
