Whitney Houston owned the offered "XTAREN" brand black and gold sequined halter mini dress, and it was acquired at an auction staged to settle unpaid storage facility debts owed by her company, Nippy, Inc. The auction featured dozens of dresses and a myriad of other personal items. The offered example of 1990's sequined style was among the affects stored following Whitney Houston's 1999 "Muy Love is Your World" concert tour. XTAREN remains to this day a popular wholesale supplier of designer women's evening wear, and the company's cloting has always been defined by a subtlely overstated glamour, which correlated perfectly with Whitney Houston's expression of her own style, and the offered dress is the ultimate embodiment of both.

Accompanying the dress are copies of the original owner's paid receipt for entering the auction (they charge $100 entry fee!), held on January 7, 2007, at the New Jersey storage facility where Houston's compnay, Nippy, Inc., had failed to pay a long-outstanding debt. The event was run by A.J. Willner Auctions, and a copy of their original terms and conditions and lot listing is also included. The dress offered here is listed as "Lot 296: Black & Gold Evening Dress." Though it's a somewhat unfortunate circumstance, in this case, that provides the ironclad provenance that the dress came from Whitney Houston's personal wardrobe, it does affords a collector the rare opportunity to acquire something almost directly from the source. Whitney would have been one of just few women to wear the hell out this glitzy mini dress. The dress has the original care label on the interior. While the dress shows signs of being worn, it presents with no damage. Near Mint condition.
