In November of 1956 Elvis and his cousin Gene Smith rented a Cadillac and took a road trip to Las Vegas. While in Vegas, Elvis met Liberace and also began dating Dottie Harmony, a Las Vegas singer and dancer who would later accompany Elvis to his pre-induction Army physical on January 4, 1957. Offered is the original yellow carbon “customer” copy of the Hertz rental agreement dated November 12, 1956 from this very trip, with a beautiful carbon copy "Elvis Presley" signature. Included with the receipt is a yellow Hertz rental car windowed envelope with return address 660 Madison Ave., New York 21, NY postmarked March 30, 1961, and Elvis' Hertz Auto-matic International Charge Card with "E A Presley 3764 Hwy 51 S, Memphis, Tenn" imprinted on the card. The card is contained in its original folded, full-color brochure. The receipt measures 7 3/4 by 7 7/8 inches, the envelope measures 4 by 7 3/8 inches, and the folded advertising brochure with Hertz credit card measures 3 3/4 by 7 1/8 inches. This collection emanates directly from the Archives at Graceland. It was originally offered in the 1999 Graceland Archives Auction (lot A178) and is pictured on page 92 of the original auction catalog. The group is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
