Offered is an Elton John signed limited edition plaque produced in 1978 to celebrate the launching of his label, Rocket Record Company. Rocket Records was formed by Elton, Bernie Taupin and others in 1973, in agreement with Island and MCA Records. By 1978, the distribution, which had moved from MCA to RCA, would eventually move to PolyGram Records. Prior to that move, though, the offered limited edition plaque was created among a run of only 200 copies to celebrate the new logo for "The Rocket Record Company." The plaque has been signed in the lower left corner by Elton John, and its limited edition number "166/200" is handwritten in the lower right corner.
The accompanying original certificate that came with the plaque reads: "Congratulations!! This certificate guarantees the owner that this reprint, the official Rocket Record Company Logo, autographed by Elton John is individually signed in a Limited Edition Series of 200. This piece of art was specially designed to commemorate the launching of the Elton John Label, The Rocket Record Company, with RCA Records--May 1978." This is a charming signed artifact from the heady days of the late 1970s that represents one of the most exciting periods in the career of Elton John. The plaque is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentic. The wooden plaque with the signed limited edition print laminated to the front measures 13 x 17 inches and presents in Near Mint condition.
