Please Note: A portion of the proceeds from sale of the Elton John lots, 229–281, will be donated to The Elton John Aids Foundation.
The offered handbill was produced to promote Elton John's headlining appearance at a concert on Saturday, December 4, 1971, at The Dome in Brighton, with opening act England Dan and John Ford Coley. Elton's bandmates Dee Murray and Nigel Olsson also receive billing on the handbill. The central image is a dramatic photo of Elton John at the piano during a live performance in the period. Elton was touring in support of his album Madman Across the Water, which was released only a month earlier, and its first single "Levon," which was released less than a week earlier. England Dan and John Ford Coley were experiencing a modicum of success with the release of their self-titled debut LP earlier that summer, but they were still five years away from their smash hit "I'd Really Like to See You Tonight." The handbill measures 7 1/2 x 10 inches and presents with only mild wrinkling. Near Mint condition.
