Whether his date didn't show up or the ticket guy at the door just forgot to rip it, we are left with a rare, pristine full ticket to Elton John's September 17, 1973, concert at the Honolulu International Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Still riding on the success of Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player, Elton toured relentlessly in 1973. The offered ticket catches him in the middle of his U.S. tour that started in mid-August and would stretch until late-October, just as Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is hitting the record store racks. The Hawaiian trip was a mini vacation, of sorts, between his West Coast leg of the tour and bouncing back to the East Coast, with just the one show scheduled in the 10-day period. His band was not contracted to go with him, but Elton made sure they joined him and took care of their arrangements so they could enjoy Hawaii with him. Classy even then. The ticket measures a full 3 1/2 by 1 1/2 inches and presents with no wear. Near Mint to Mint condition.
