The offered programme for the Watford Football Club's match on December 26, 1978, has been signed by the team's then-Chairman, Elton John. Watford was Elton's childhood team, as he grew up in a part of London not far from Watford. Almost as soon as he started making superstar money in the early 1970s, he made a point of becoming involved with the Watford team. He was Chairman for two periods over the years (he sold the club in 1987, but bought it back again in 1997) and is now listed as "Honorary Life President" on the team's website. While no longer the majority shareholder, he still maintains a financial interest in the team. The programme is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentic. The programme measures 6 x 8 1/4 inches and presents with only mild wear. Near Mint condition.
