Offered is an Elton John signed copy of his 1974 LP Caribou. Signed albums are generally one the items that get signed least by any artist--carrying them around was not a normal pastime for autograph seekers. The copy presented here has a beautiful signature placed by Elton John cleanly in the light blue background. The lucky fan was obviously concerned about preservation of the treasured item--they put two small strips of tape over the signature. Not ideal, but the autograph hasn't faded a bit! Though not a critical triumph, Caribou hit #1 on the Billboard charts and did bring us the songs "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" and "The Bitch is Back." The album has never been revered as the others of the period, and its status makes a signed copy that much more unusual. The album is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentic.
The album measures 12 1/2 x 12 1/2 inches and presents with moderate wear and the missing notch in the upper right. The album is a "cutout" copy, and was at least scheduled to be returned as unsold by the retailer to be recycled for sale through discount outlets. Excellent condition.
