This 2010 double vinyl LP of The Union is signed on the cover by Elton John and Leon Russell in bold silver Sharpie. Both artists have taken care to place their large signatures over their images in the cover photo, perhaps because this was a copy being signed for a contest winner at their March 18, 2011, concert at the Ted Constant Convocation Center on the campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. The elaborate vinyl package includes the gatefold cover, interior sleeves with full lyrics of the album's 16 songs and the two LPs with label design honoring the classic "Decca" 78s of a bygone era. The album was Elton's brainchild, a way for him to pay back the kindnesses Leon had showed him when Elton was the legendary piano player's opening act for a few shows in 1970. He credited Russell for  “completely changing the way I thought about playing the piano and singing” early on. The album and resulting tour were a boon for Russell's career during the final years of his life--he had faded into rock and roll obscurity prior to 2010--and that was undoubtedly part of the reason Elton made it happen. The LP is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentic. The LP measures 12 1/2 by 12 1/2 inches and presents with minor wear to the edges of the sleeve, but other elements are unsullied. Near Mint condition overall.
