The Beatles were the only major band from their era to not release a live album, and it would take until 1977 for Capitol to get around to rectifying the situation with The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl. The offered Capitol Records record store poster promotes the release of the LP, proclaiming "NOW AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME! THE BEATLES 1964-1965 HISTORIC 'LIVE' CONCERTS AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL." It features images of the two pictorial tickets from the concerts that are also featured on the cover of the album. (A complete, MINT package of the "clothes line" store display for the album is also offered in this auction.) The live album had a long and winding road to get to its eventual late-1970's release (my apologies). After first being rejected by Capitol when they heard the tapes after the shows, the project was started and then abandoned by Phil Spector after his Let it Be producing job in 1971. Finally Beatles Producer George Martin was handed the project, and he brought it to completion with the help of recording engineer Geoff Emerick. The poster measures 18 x 35 inches and presents with heavy wear including staining, edge wear, wrinkling, some small areas of paper loss, plus tape and putty remnants on the front and back. Excellent condition overall.
