From March 1-25, 1958, Buddy Holly and the Crickets toured the United Kingdom, playing 50 shows in 25 days. The March 4 stop was at the City Hall in Sheffield, where they stopped just long enough prior to climbing on stage to beautifully sign the autograph book page offered here. The fan has labelled the page "Buddy Holly & The Crickets," but the fine penmanship of the Lubbock-educated trio makes their names quite readable! Also included is the fan's ticket stub to the concert in Sheffield and a handwritten letter that reads "The Buddy Holly and the Crickets autographs were obtained back stage at Sheffield City Hall on Tuesday 4th May 1958 prior to their concert. It was within an autograph book and they also gave me a postcard sized photograph." The 2004 letter is signed by Philip Roberts, and while the postcard is gone a period 8 x 10 promotional photo of the band is included. The back of the page is signed "To Prince Philip, Good Luck Peter Colville / Vic Gordon." They are listed as a father and son comedian act. Their act was surely well-received by the impatient young crowd waiting to experience the revolution of popular music. The autographs are accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentic. The page measures 4 1/2 by 3 3/4 inches, and the ticket stub measures 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches. The page presents with only mild toning and wear. Excellent to Mint condition.
