The offered group of mementos from Rick Nelson's April 29, 1983, appearance at Vance's Bar in Sturtevant, Wisconsin is like a time capsule. Rick has signed the back of the stained drink receipt which lists "lite, Tab (crossed out), 2 Br&W (bourbon and water), Gin&Sr (gin and sour)" all for the princely sum of $5. The $15 ticket stub and handbill finish off the ensemble, and the handbill has perfect line drawing of Nelson above the band name "Rick Nelson and the Stone Canyon Band." It's a wonderful slice of 1983--"Tab" no less!
Vance's Bar actually had a bit of a reputation for several decades as a stop on the circuit for touring country music acts, such as Porter Waggoner, Cal Smith, Bellamy Brothers, Janie Frickie, Charlie McClain, Tammy Wynette, Tommy James and the Shondells, Roy Orbison, Faron Young, and Rick Nelson. Pretty respectable lineup. The signed receipt is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentic. The drink receipt measures 3 x 5 inches, the ticket stub measures 3 3/3 x 2 inches and the handbill measures 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches. The group presents with moderate wear, and the drink receipt is stained. Excellent condition overall, though the ticket stub is much better.
