Offered is the original Neko Cholis artwork for the cover of The Monkees 1969 45 RPM single "Tear Drop City." The artwork emanates from the collection of Dick Clark and is accompanied with the certificate of authenticity and lot tag from "The Dick Clark" auction in 2006. "Tear Drop City" and its b-side "A Man Without a Dream" appeared on their 1969 LP Instant Replay. The artwork is a testament to the state of the band in late 1968. Peter Tork is missing from the illustration because he left the band in December, but the side of his head is still present in the trimmed artwork and in the final product. The art was originally composed to nicely fill the square space of a 45 cover, but with Peter's departure they simply replaced him with a large bar of color and ran the other song title down the side of the final cover (a copy is included with the lot). Its as if he is literally being labelled "A Man Without a Dream!" Abstract artist Neko Chohlis also did the cover art for the Monkees next LP, The Monkees Present.  The artwork measures 12 3/4 x 13 1/2 inches and presents with just a little fading. Near Mint condition.
