Offered is an Epic Records in-house record award for The Hollies 1969 single "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother." The award reads "To Bob Sherwood and KROY for believing in "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" by The Hollies our sincere appreciation EPIC RECORDS." The single was released in September 1969, and its progression up the charts prompted Epic to change the name of The Hollies UK release, Hollies Sing Hollies, to He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother when they released in the States in December 1969. The Hollies had recorded the song in June and August of 1969, and got some help on piano from Elton John. Bob Sherwood was the Program Director at KROY in Sacramento, California, a radio station ratings powerhouse at that time. Labels like Epic would always do what they could to foster their relationships with the stations that brought their artists to the masses. The wooden award measures 9 x 12 inches and presents with moderate to heavy scuffing on the wooden areas. Excellent condition.
