The Armed Forces Radio & Television Service was established in 1942 by the War Department to broadcast popular American radio and television to troops, government employees and families stationed overseas. It is still in operation today under the name American Forces Network, and over the years many stars have rallied to support U.S. efforts abroad. The offered Armed Forces Radio & Television LP contains three songs from the soundtrack for Elvis’ 1966 film Paradise, Hawaiian Style. Paradise, Hawaiian Style was Elvis’ 21st movie and was filmed on location on the picturesque island, resulting in breathtaking footage and stunning visuals. The soundtrack for the film contained ten tracks and was released in June 1966.

The offered Armed Forces Radio & Television LP retains the original Armed Forces Radio & Television Service Station Library label from Los Angeles, California. Side one is numbered “SSL-18035 / P-9917” and contains seven songs, with four from Fantastic Feliciano and three of the Lover’s Concerto. Side two is numbered “SSL-18036 / P-9918” and contains three songs by Elvis from Paradise, Hawaiian Style including “Paradise, Hawaiian Style (With The Jordanaires),” “Drums Of The Islands (With The Jordanaires),” and “Sand Castles.” This side also contains three songs by Julius La Rosa from You’re Gonna Hear From Me. The acetate comes with its original sleeve printed with “Armed Forces Radio & Television Service / Property of United States Government.” The acetate measures 11 3/4 inches in diameter and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
