The offered white linen matte RIAA Gold Record Award was presented for The Doors 1967 single "Light My Fire" from their self-titled debut album. The band's breakout single spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard charts, and it was the band's first Gold Record and best selling single while they were active. The RIAA certified the single gold on September 11, 1967, and the offered award hails from that time period as evidenced by the early white matte style.

Infamously, The Doors performed the song The Ed Sullivan Show on September 17, 1967, and though they promised the producer they would change the line "girl, we couldn't get much higher" because of sponsor concerns about the possible drug reference, Morrison sang the line as written. Sullivan refused to shake Morrison's hand (which I'm sure he was all torn up about), and after being told they wouldn't ever do the show again, Morrison is said to have quipped, "Hey man, we just did the Sullivan show."

The award measures 13 x 17 inches and presents with only minor wear and scuffing to the wooden frame. Near Mint condition.
