The offered RIAA Gold Record Award was presented for The Rolling Stones single "Honky Tonk Woman," which was released on July 4, 1969. The song was a huge hit, even though it did not appear on Let it Bleed that same year, and the RIAA certified it gold on August 26, 1969. The offered award was produced in that period, based on the white linen matte style. The single was an immediate hit, staying at number one on the Billboard charts for four weeks starting in August 1969, with its b-side "You Can't Always Get What You Want." The song's original country version, "Country Honk," appears on the album Let it Bleed, released in December 1969.

The plaque on the offered award reads "Presented to MICK JAGGER to Commemorate the Sale of More Than One Million Copies of the LONDON RECORDS Pop Single Record 'Honky Tonk Woman.'" The song was written by Jagger and Keith Richards while on holiday in Brazil from late December 1968 to early January 1969, and recorded the following summer. Richards has always insisted that the country arrangement of "Country Honk" is the original version of the song, and that "Honky Tonk Woman" came during a later recording session in 1969. Gram Parsons was a fixture in the world of the Stones in that period, and he is often credited with bringing that country sensibility into the mix of their music. Richards simply described he and Parsons as "leaning in the same direction" at the time, but certainly described him as a "soul brother." "Honky Tonk Woman" is always on the lists of greatest songs of all time, appropriately, as it may just define what rock and roll is. Or at least should be. This is one of the single coolest gold record awards we have ever seen.

The award measures 13 x 17 inches and presents with few distresses. Stunning Near Mint to Mint condition.
