Offered is an extremely high grade copy of one of the earliest Beatles records in existence, their second single on Vee Jay Records, "From Me To you" / "Thank You Girl," released in May 1963. This example is not one of the later 1964 pressings, but one of the earliest pressings done by Monarch Records in Los Angeles, California (Vee Jay didn't press their own records but instead farmed out the work to several pressing plants around the country.) The Monarch "MR" logo, as well as the matrix numbers "63-2318/63-2319," "Audio Matrix" Logo and job numbers "47843/47843," in the runoff area all indicate this is an early version of the second pressing of this record. What seals the deal for identifying this early pressing is the songwriters being listed as "McCartney-Lennon," which was corrected on later stampings. The "oval" Vee Jay logo was used on the second pressing, while the first pressings use the "bracket" logo. What distinguishes this example further is its superior condition. There are only the most minor scuffs to the vinyl and a few very minute indications on the label near the center hole that it was played a few times, if at all. Stunning NM condition.
